The Princess and the Frog...and the Duck

This Halloween, Sofia insisted on being a princess. Not even a scary princess but a beautiful, heartwarming princess. To go with the theme, Nicholas happily donned a frog costume. Originally, it was going to be the Princess and the Frogs. But upon seeing a duck costume at the party store, Matthew opting for loyalty to his duck friends (ask him about his swim with the ducks and his new duckman persona sometime) over his own siblings, insisted on the duck costume. All three were quite proud as they glided, hopped, and waddled down the street demanding candy from complete strangers. This was the boys' first year trick or treating and boy, did they catch on like champs. After some mild wariness by Nicholas, by the third house, the boys were regular pros, snatching candy eagerly from plentiful bowls of kit kats, reese's, and organic chocolate (remember this is Los Altos) and always remembering to say "Thanks!" With the family in tow (parents, grandparents, godmother, and a Danny), we hit every house on the block until we could walk no more -except Nicholas who was rearing to go after all the jack-o-lanterns had lost their flame. We retired to the casa for some cider and Its the great pumpkin charlie brown and called it a night, snuggling cozy in our beds (with the exception of three over tired kids who struggled to fall asleep for several more hours).
